THE SOUTHERN SUN IN A PARISIAN COCOON

Lugdivine Meytre - Paris, France

Written by: Salomé GANDARA

Originally from Marseille, Ludivine Meytre, known as Ludipilates, brightens her community with her sunny and dynamic personality. Her passion for Pilates, which she teaches with contagious energy, makes her sessions beneficial for both body and soul. Evolving from an enthusiast to a professional, she has become a true source of inspiration for those looking to enhance their well-being in sunshine and good spirits.

Now based in Paris, Ludivine continues to enrich her practice but remains true to her love for sunny climates. She regularly organizes retreats in idyllic locations, where the sun and beautiful landscapes contribute to the revitalizing experience of her classes. These retreats are an opportunity for her to share her passion and offer a well-deserved break to her participants, while staying connected to her Mediterranean roots.

Who is Ludipilates and how did Pilates come into your life?

I wear multiple hats in my career. I am a franchisee of an ice cream shop called Amorino. It was actually through Amorino that I discovered Pilates. Suffering from back pain, my osteopath recommended that I start with some Pilates classes. I found the practice so fascinating and the results on my health so significant that I decided to train professionally. Over time, I began teaching more and more classes, initially via social media, and now during retreats, which I love organizing.

What does your interior look like?

It's sunny. I don't necessarily spend time on finding a link between colors and materials as is often the case in magazines, where everything is carefully chosen. I don't overthink it. There isn't really much thought behind it, so it's true that everything might seem a bit disorganized. There's a certain scatter, but ultimately, what's great is that our interior reflects us and we find our well-being there.

What advice would you give to those who want a sunny interior but don't know how to achieve it?

If I were to give advice to someone looking for a rug for their home, who wants to bring light, warmth, and joy, I would undoubtedly say: focus on color. Don't be afraid to be bold, as it is a true daily delight to be surrounded by bright colors. I love my "Soleil" rug by Marie Bathellier; it's a patchwork that has also allowed me to introduce other colors and pair them, for example, with cushions. However, for a quieter space, I might choose a cream color, which is what we did in our hallway. You really need to dare, and now with poufs, it’s even better because they provide comfortable seating.

What items in your home would you describe as "saudadesque"?

For me, what matters is the story that an item tells, like the lovely vase my father gave me, or the furniture piece we found at a flea market. All these items are filled with memories, love, and history. They each hold a piece of a past emotion or event, making them not just physical objects in my home, but keepsakes of cherished moments.

Lady of Rugs or Queen of Cushions?

I see myself in both roles. If it were possible, I'd travel from place to place on a magic rug. As for the cushions, they represent comfort and softness, essentials I can't do without on a daily basis.

Where would your carpet take you?

My Saudade rug would carry me away on an escapade. I especially love my adventures in Portugal and Morocco.
